Ward Family Cemetery

History

The Ward Family Cemetery has existed for 200 years on the former site of the Ward family Plantation.  The property was sold and it eventually became a horse farm.  Local homeowners share the story that the new property owner ran off visitors to the cemetery and often encouraged riders to jump the tombstones.  The property was later sold to be turned into a housing development.  While the Ward descendants were working to preserve and restore the cemetery the property passed into the hands of another developer who worked with the family to preserve and protect the family burial ground.
